Project Developer Skills and Knowledge

Business Subject knowledge
Understanding business requirements is of primary importance as a software developer. I build upon my technical and analytical background as a software developer, to understand a variety of technologies and platforms (such as VBA, classic ASP, Java, .Net) and use this to tailor project development to client data, the requirements and to understand critical business delivery issues.

IT Capabilities
I have an in depth understanding of the limitations of business information systems, and how effectively systems can be applied. I use this information to quickly assess feasibility of client requirements, in terms of effort, time and development platform. This allows me to develop software by establishing the relevance of my work. I work by delivering many quick wins which gradually build into the longer term objectives of the project.

Data
Data is the hub of many projects. I work with my business colleagues to identifying the data the business currently has, where it is and in what format. By mapping this information, in terms of what is required for new systems, we can gain a common understanding between all stakeholders around what can be achieved with a new system, what new information is required (e.g. data inputs, lookup tables), how the new system will process it (e.g. analysis, applying a rule base) and where it can be stored (such as a SQL repository).

Business Techniques
I have a full knowledge of developing documentation incorporating process flows, use cases, data maping presentations as well as data gathering interview skills, workshops and existing systems investigation.

Other Skills
I have excellent communication skills, I am able to bring together, analyze and appraise projects and data and make appropriate and well-reasoned recommendations and decisions to support Business stakeholders and Project teams and team members as appropriate.
