Description
In this project you would need to program Sequans wimax chips (SQN1130, SQN1140, SQN1110 - Mobile WiMAX Certified)to implement a logic which I will describe later. In your proposal you MUST answer the following questions:
1. What will be the minimum and maximum range of transmission for these kinds of chips in meters? Remember, Wimax claims to have a maximum range of 31 kilometers for 70 Mbps output, however rates differ on various circumstances.
2. Sequans claims that the power required to run the chips is about 280mW. How will we be able to accomplish a scenario in which I want the transmitter to transmit at lower power to a receiver which is just 2 meters away and transmit at high power to reach a destination 10 kilometer or more away? Is an amplifier required to amplify (or reduce)the power of transmission so that we can adjust the power depending on the proximity of the receiver? We need this to optimize the power consumption of the transmitting devices.
3. How many simultaneous connections can a single chip handle? What I mean is that is it possible for the chip to function on 10 channels at a time so that all the channels are being used for different data relay? This comes into multitasking the chip.
4. How do you plan to accommodate thousands of parallel users in the cell where the transmitter is operating? In one square kilometer, if the density is 10,000 mobile phones and all need to talk together, what multiple access scheme would you use so that there is clear reception between all the transmitters and receivers. Imagine, if the transmitter is transmitting to a range of 10 kilometer or more, then there will be thousands of thousands of simultaneous transmissions. In CDMA, a chip code is used to differentiate between channels. In GSM, Frequency Division is used to differentiate the channels. What scheme will you use to differentiate overlapping channels of simultaneous broadcasts?
5. What have been your previous experiences with wireless chip programming?
