Description
We need to hire a programmer that knows perl that can fix a program that we believe may have a path issue. Recently, we moved our website from one server to another and in the process one of our programs that calculates temperature and precipitation trends and then plots the data using the graphing program PLOTUTILS (http://www.gnu.org/software/plotutils/) has failed to work. Because the programs worked previously, we believe that the problem is most likely a path issue, but we are not certain and cannot figure it out ourselves. Or, it is possible that either our perl program or the plotutils program file became corrupted in the move.
You can google PLOTUTILS to learn about it, or visit the web address above. It is free GNU software and we use the graph.c program (I believe). I am also including a copy of the perl program for you to look over. Need someone who can fix the problem completely within one week. Am open to using a different program to plot the graphs if you are aware of one. Also need to write a script that will delete all the files the PLOTUTILS program creates in the tmp directory daily. If you want to view the webpage of where/how we use the program, it is here: http://www.co2science.org/data/ushcn/al/al.php

I am uploading the ushcn.pl file as a text file. Seems like the original file upload does not download correctly

I have also uploaded a copy of one of the two output files that the perl program creates (the text file). The other file is a GIF file that the plotutils program is supposed to be creating, but it is coming back as 0 bytes.

As I mentioned, I have been able to get the perl program to successfully calculate the trends and create one of the output files that I loaded previously. I am uploading that perl script here as a text file. It is the file ghcn.txt (really ghcn.pl). To see this file work on our website go to this page: http://www.co2science.org/data/temperatures/ghcn.php. Run a calcuation and then click on the link "Click here to get the annual temperatures in tabular form." This file is the ensuing output text file. The other file that should be created is the GIF file from the plotutils program. That is where the problem lies. It is creating the gif file, but with zero bytes. So I believe that either we have not correctly called the plotutils program graphing routine, or perhaps we have not correctly installed Plotutils on our new server. That is where we need the help.
