Description
I currently have a website which keeps each product up-to-date with the best price available on the internet for that particular product.
I have some programming experience and would prefer to have this software written in VB but it is absolutely not required.
This tool is to help me stay up-to-date with all the ever-changing prices on products from various merchants on price comparison websites.
A web crawler or spider-like program is what I have in mind which allows me to enter up to several website URL's (the comparison shopping sites) into a listbox object. Additionally, I will be searching for prices on particular products, so I will need an additional listbox type object to enter all the model numbers for all the products I use. All the model numbers need to be entered into the comparison site's (from the listbox) search box and generate all the prices and extract the BEST price including the company/merchant corresponding with the model number back to the program into another listbox. The results listbox needs an option to be saved as text file and excel spreadsheet.
Basically, it should be something like a for loop which checks each model number through every comparison site first before moving on to the next model number.
I'm not looking for too much time spent on visually pleasing GUI. On a final point I would like previous searches to load back up when the program is loaded, and if another search is generated I would it to point out if there were any changes to prices or merchants since the last search took place.
More will need to be discussed on particular data being extracted and the process of flow for how I would like the application to perform to help meet my needs and make my job much easier but that is the main concept of what needs to be performed for bidding purposes.
