Project Details:
The projcet is to develope back office software for Point of Sale systems which are Verifone Ruby, Gilbarco G-Site and Gilbarco Passport. We will provide SDK which provides all the details for making a connector for each POS system.This should be a client/server application where the server houses all the data and the client connected to cash registers polls data from the registers and also pushes updated data to the cash register. The back office software should have following features:
Price Book
-Items database using MySQL.
-Sending and Receving items data from the Cash Registers connected to local pc.
-Items Manager (Editing Items)
-Promotions Schedule (Begin and End dates for the promotions)
-Price Groups (Grouping of like items with same price)
-Promotion Groups (Grouping of items that are on sale)
-Cash Register Departments and Categories
-Electonic import of raw data.
-Multiple Price Books, at store level and master price book.
Fuel Management
-Fuel Invoices
-Gasoline Inventory tracking
-Price Tracking
Invoice Management
-Invoice Ledger (include picture of invoices)
-Vendors List
-Invoice/Document Storage
Expenses Register
-Expense Ledger

User Interface
-Web-based interface to the whole back office system. ASP.NET, PHP, AJAX, CSS.
EDI from wholesale vendor
-Provide EDI support from vendor. Usually vendor emails electronic invoices to an email in csv format, so basically you need to write a text parser to import the data into the database.
EDI from Bank (Quickbooks format)
-Use quickbooks format to import the bank statments/data into our system to reconcile checks and deposits.
Shift/Daily Reports
-Polling and parsing shift/daily reports from the cash register.

-the data must be encryped while in transfer from client to server can be over sftp.
Requirements for Project:
1. Client Software is installed on a local PC connected to cash register using null modem cable on serial port.
2. Client Software polls data from the Cash Register periodically and uploads the raw ASCII (text) data to server. (All the data polled from server is in text format)
3. Server parses the data and imports into the database.
4. There is a control in place to accept the data before the data is entered into master database. So all data that is polled but not accepted should be placed in an holding database.
5. After the database is imported into database, the system is able to generate reports against the data.
The SDK will be provided for each POS system. There are three POS systems we are dealing with: Verifone Ruby, Gilbarco G-Site, Gilbarco Passport
The software should be written, so it is independent of the POS system for the back office. Only the client software should match with each cash register. The backend system should be same for all POS. Must provide all source code. Maintenace plan may be negotiated for support and maintenance of the program.
I will provide fulltime support throughout the development process. I have an degree in IT and 4 years of IT experience. The core important features of this project is the Price Book and Shift/Daily Reports.
