PROJECT BRIEF
Create a PHP and mySQL database driven simple, niche social networking site.
The work must be high quality and the code needs to be clean, simple, and filled with comments so that things are easy for us to understand after the project is finished. Templates or “themes” must be used. Please know our ideas are not set in stone and we are always open to suggestions from you guys! We are excited to get started and hope to create a solid, sound, and sleek finished product.
DESIGN
The concept of my project is a very simple facebook.com like website aimed at my specific niche. You can also look at the socialengine.net social software that is similar to what we would like but has way more features than we need. Another niche based site to model off of would be saleshq.com (but again many more features than we need).
I can provide Photoshop (.psd) files that represent the general layouts, entrance page, and design for general look used through out the website. We have a color scheme as well as font styles we would like used through out the site.
FEATURES
*The entrance gateway will be where members can sign in and also sign up.

*The members must have a profile page with two tabs for their “wall” and “info” parts
The info part will include several bits about the user.
The wall part will be a very simple text wall again like the early facebook
*The members must be able to update their “status” that will answer the question WHAT ARE YOU DOING
*The members need to be able to become “friends” with other members
*The members should only be able to view the profiles of members they are “friends” with
*When viewing another members profile page we would like to show “mutual friends”
*The members must be able to upload a profile photo to be displayed on the members profile page
*The members must be able to upload photos into a photo album and tag the images with people who are in the image
*Depending on complexity we would like the members to be able to upload video or add youtube videos or youtube video links to their albums.
*When member login need to be taken to a “news feed” page that has recent updates from their “friends”. Only certain updates will qualify for this news feed.
*There will be a very comprehensive list of events that the administrators of the site will update and add to. They will need to be organized by category and then date. Members can send an email to the admin to advise us on new events they would like to see added
*The will be another large list of retail shops with location that the admin will provide and update. We would like members to be able to enter a zip code and have locations within 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 mile radii show up using the Google maps API.
We would like to build a relationship with our coders and down the road add new features and options for the users. One that we would like to offer is a niche specific member submitted news page similar to a very simple digg.com but only based towards the community niche.
AD SYSTEM
Similar to facebook ad locations on the right hand side of the profile pages.
A simple, clean and effective ad system must be implemented.
1. Advertisers registers for an ad account - same as normal member account.
2. Advertiser gives us unique code/referral link and graphic.
3. Integrates link and small graphic into right hand side of the profile pages depending on keywords they are looking to target from our members interests
4. Possibly also using google adsense ads.
NOTES
Security must be good, especially dealing with the member info.
We will test all code thoroughly before any escrow payment is released. It needs to be bug free and built to our specifications.
The entire project must be created in such a way that it is able to be duplicated, as there may be various niche sites for each region of the world, for which the main site will need to be integrated with. So, duplication needs to be simple.
Along with the site, you must provide documentation on completion giving us instructions on how we would go about duplicating the site for different themed projects of a similar format. Including explanations on working with databases, secure and safe backup of all information/DB’s.
Admin must be able to edit EVERYTHING, from category services to Images, to images icons of categories. Absolute power must reign for the admin.
