Description
Knowledgeable website programmer required for small web project. I do not mind how this website is coded however the key criteria are:
- Can be viewed consistently in as many web browsers as possible. - Does not require any plug-in / download to be viewed / work. - Should expand / shrink (within reason) to the user’s monitor size. - All content (including meta tags) is easily updatable via a secure backend. - Can be hosted with a standard low cost ISP. - Is search engine friendly (very important).
I will produce all the necessary graphics / image files for this project, as per the programmer’s instructions.
-----------------------------------------------------------
WEBSITE LAYOUT & FRONT END FUNCTIONALITY
Image one shows a good approximation of how this site should look once completed. The main content for this website is provided via third-party web page URLs (http). I therefore imagine the site would be made up of a frame set, however I have little programming knowledge and there may be a much better way of constructing this site to fulfil this brief. I am therefore open any programming solution that effectively fulfil this brief.
As you can see in my second image I imagine this site would have 5 frames / sections with the middle (frame 3) holding the external third-party http web page (see my third image). It is important to note that there must not be any borders or visual gaps between the sections, so as far as the user is concerned the web page is whole (not in sections). The main frame (Frame 3 / highlighted in my third image) must always be fixed (at 690 pixels wide; can be easily changed) irrespective of the size of the viewer’s browser window, whereas all the other sections should be percentages (grow or shrink to fill the space available). Please also note the middle frame / section should be readable by search engines (this http page will contain all its own meta information) however the whole web page (not just this middle, middle section) should be referenced / linked in the search engine. I do not want a situation where a search engine is listing and linking to one of the (5) sections only (without the other 4).
My fourth image shows that there are four main navigational buttons: 1. – Graphic Logo (when clicked returns to the home page). 2. – Graphic ‘FAQ’ (when clicked loads http URL into the main section). 3. – Graphic ‘BUY’ (when clicked opens a new web page window full screen). 4. – Graphic ‘ART’ (when clicked loads http URL into the main section). 4b. – List of text links (when clicked loads http URL into the main section).
All of the above links to have visual rollovers. Graphic links to have a normal, mouse over and click state, text links to have the same 3 states. Once all links return to the ‘normal’ visual black state after having been rolled-over or clicked. When ‘4b.’ (text list links) are rolled over an image will be shown. In my example images ‘Mary Edwardson’ is in the rolled-over state and therefore an image (man on bike) is shown. If this link was in the ‘normal’ (black) state no image would be shown. The images that appear for these text links should preload from the outset (so they all appear when the user rolls over the links; no waiting for the image to load). All of these text link images must be fixed to the same top right reference point (below the text links) and will be of different pixel sizes.
To reconfirm how the web page resizes:
Top section will expand on the width and height as a percentage, however it is important that all the graphic links stay fixed to this section below (so they no not drift apart).
Left, middle section will expand on the width and height as a percentage, however it is important that the graphics and text links stay fixed to this section above and to the right (so they no not drift apart).
Middle, middle section has a constant fixed width of 690 pixels, the height is a percentage, however it is important that the graphics and text links to the left stay fixed to this sections above and to the right (so they no not drift apart).
Right, middle section has no content (just a background colour) and expands as a percentage on the width and height.
Bottom section has no content (just a background colour) and expands as a percentage on the width and height.
NB. 1) The only area that is allowed a scroll bar is the middle, middle section on the height only. 2) On the bottom left of the page design you will see in my images that there is a piece of copyright text. This must be html text, fixed to line up (on the right) below the html text links. Ideally this text should ‘sit below’ any rollover image that appears (above it) and therefore will be hidden only in this instance (not push out of the way).
WEBSITE BACK END FUNCTIONALITY
The web site described above must be able to be managed / updated via a password protected web page back end. This ‘back end web page’ will allow the site administrator to update all links and content apart from content in the main section without any programming knowledge (simple form data entry only).
Here is the list of all the fields I am aware we require (please let me know if you can think of any others):
