Description
Sharif, I need one more extension to our program, which will appear as a fourth tag named ‘Sorting’.
Namely, I want to input a file that will be sorted according to the periodicity of the security ie first the ‘one-day’ periodicities (like IBM18Mar19Mar), then the ‘two-day’ periodicities etc up to ‘4-day’ periodicity’. To compute those, it will skip weekends and holidays, as always, according to our calendars (2008.txt, 2009.txt etc)
But FIRST I will also provide four numbers, each corresponding to one periodicity. Let’s say I provide 2.5 for periodicity1, 3 for periodicity2 etc. The program will DISCARD all entries with periodicity1 (the ‘dailies’ so to speak) whose value at column C is LESS than 2.5 and then go ahead and sort the rest. Also it will DISCARD all entries with periodicity2 whose value at column C is LESS than 3 and sort the rest. Etc Etc.
Thus, I will end up with a .txt file that will consist of periodicities1 with value at C>2.5, THEN it will show the periodicities2 with value at C>3 etc. This file will be created in a folder I specify (say C:\NewFiles) and will be named ‘breakdown’. It will help me a lot if you can also create another four .txt files in that directory as well, named ‘breakdown1’, breakdown2’ etc up to ‘breakdown4’, that will contain ONLY the corresponding periodicities, that is, ‘breakdown2’ will contain ONLY the periodicities2 with C>3 etc. These four files should be sorted according to column B in ascending order (from smallest to largest). If you can’t do the four ‘sub-files’ then just the ‘master’ file (the ‘breakdown’) according to B WITHIN each periodicity (if it is trivial for you, then why don’t you sort this way all of them?).
If I don’t specify a number for column C somewhere, the program will assume it will be a zero and continue accordingly. As always, the names (headers) of the columns won't play a role in the program (i.e. column C can be renamed to whatever in the future but the program will still be able to function properly).
