Description
We need a web application that provides input forms for online customer registration.
These web pages would communicate the user inputs to our back-end SOAP server (already written) over HTTP. PHP is preferred to communicate to the web service application.
This project is to provide a web interface for a pre-existing server application that also currently provides other web service functions that are called by Win32 client programs.
A new suite of web services for the required web application has been added specifically to provide for online customer registration.
These new web services include functions to add & update customer, add & update children, add & update contacts.
This is for a child care application and so web pages for the intended online customer registration facility include inputting customer details, children\'s details, and contacts details.
All the web services provided by the backend application are fully documented and tested.
The successful bidder and/or selected bidders will be provided with:
1) a copy of the Win32 back-end (HTTP) server application that provides the web services for you to test against. This server can also generate a web-function listing page and WSDL for the functions.
2) a Win32 demonstration client program that:
- shows all the input forms needed and has buttons to submit the data
- does live calls of all the web functions that you need to interface with over HTTP
- has a \"Dump XML\" option so that actual SOAP requests and responses done by the demonstration application can be dumped and inspected so you can check how your requests need to be structured.
In fact, your programming job is primarily just to write a \"PHP version\" of what the Win32 client demonstration application already does!
Your web application will not have to store any data itself.
The back-end application provided already validates the inputs sent to it, and stores the data.
Its web functions provide error response results in the SOAP response that itemise field name(s) and related error strings if needed.
Please note though that the back-end application uses RPC-style SOAP, not document-style SOAP. This has already proven to be too challenging for a previous PHP programmer who consequently made very little headway with the project. (Oddly, he was attempting to \"hand-craft\" the entire XML of every SOAP request?)
We also have PDF printouts available that show a similar web application as a guide to layout of the input web pages you need to create.
The web application will need to be multi-instanced on our web server as we will be providing a different subdomain for each of our customers (ie. child care services) that want to provide this online registration and update facility for their customers (ie. parents). It is assumed therefore that a configuration file will be used provide the credentials needed to identify the relevant child care service to our backend application. Also, possible scope for individualisation and branding of the pages for each customer/service, or suggestions how this might be acoommodated, would be welcome.
This project has been set as a \"large\" project mainly to indicate the price range we are prepared to pay. However we fully believe that a single experienced and productive programmer would be able to complete the project in under a week.
We require the project to be started within 2 weeks and a commitment to complete the project within 3 weeks of its commencement.
We are a major producer of child care software in Australia.
After this project is finished, at some stage next year we will be looking to extend the online functionality to include online bookings for parents (for which of course web service functions will be provided). Then possibly, as a later project, the provision of online account histories and account payments.
