Description
I have a SQL Server database and need a Visual Basic .NET program.

With a Table called Inventory
Some of the columns are called:
InventoryNumber is a varchar 12
PartNotes field is a varchar 255.
Cost is a money type
ValuePrice is a money type

We try to pack a lot of information into the Notes field so a typical entry in the notes field might look like:

FR BUMPER (CHR) DG P/U (OLD STYLE) W/O SPRT PKG 1994-2002

The Section and is pseudo xml so that I can find these values and use them because I am unable to change the DB structure, so I am forced to pack extra columns into the Notes field and parse them out to get the values of V or PL out

I need a program that will allow me to kind of edit these values. The specifics are that I need a program that allow me to say if V=API then make (if P1 does not exist) or edit (if P1 does exist) a column that says

The program would take input of
Vendor V=XXX (3 chars)
And then Have 3 drop downs, and 3 text fields, one set for P1, one for P2, one for P3
Drop downs would have three choices : No Value, Mark Up from cost, Mark Down from ValuePrice

P1 P2 P3
DD DD DD (Drop Down)
P1Mult P2Mult P3Mult

The second field (P1Mult, etc) from each pair would be the mark up multiplier (ex. 1.3) or the mark down multiplier (.8)
If Mark Up , the Px= Value would be Cost times PxMult
If mark down, the Px=Value would be Value times the PxMult
If No Value, the program will delete the entry if one exists.

The program will match the value V with the parsed value from PartNotes field and edit the value in each corresponding PartNotes to be P1=YYY and P2=ZZZ

If V=API
If CostPrice=100.0 and ValuePrice = 333.0
P1 = MarkUP 1.3
P2 = MarkDown .8
P3 = No Value 99 (99 or any other number is ignored)

The PartsNotes field to look like this when the program is done. If Value
FR BUMPER (CHR) DG P/U (OLD STYLE) W/O SPRT PKG 1994-2002

100*.3 = 133.33 (Cost * 1.3 = P1)
333*.8 = 266.4 (LP*.8 = P2)

The program will report the progress ( How many rows were edited) after completing
