Description
We are looking for an experienced developer or team of developers to work on creating a desktop application layer and API for a web application we are working on.
The system is built in php/mysql with heavy JQuery and using JSON for most data management.
We need to create an application layer that will allow us to integrate with local hardware. The system should be multi platform so JAVA is ideal.
At this point the system does not have an API for retrieving or sending data to an outside application, and would like your PHP/MySQL developer(s) to create this, while working with our developers over MSN Messenger.
The application layer should provide several functions:
- A system for identifying local and networked printers and relaying their availability to our web application and relaying print jobs from the web application to the selected printer.
- A system for interfacing with and print to Epson receipt printers.
- An instant messenger application with alerts and functionality similar to MSN messenger, without audio and video conferencing, background exchange and other non-messaging functions. Emoticons and file sharing are a requirement. The instant messenger will store logs and retrieve and maintain contact lists in our web application.
- A system for file management: a user can login to the desktop application and use it to upload files to their account in our web application.
- A system for sending requests from the web application to specific terminals. We would like to see the state of machines running this application layer and be able to send requests such as 'Open URL in Firefox' to the machine.
