Description
Just need someone to do a few small programs for a masters level class. Originally but foolishly signed up to learn Java programming online when I realized I was going to have a baby mid semester. Unfortunately, baby is taking up way too much of my brain and it's too late to incomplete the class. Only have one month to complete labs and a final project.....Helping me would be awesome and paying someone to write these programs at this point is less expensive than taking another class...
Below are descriptions of three labs that must be done ASAP and if interested, I'll send final project description.
1. Name Index:
This Lab requires you to develop a program that will compile, store, sort, organize, retrieve, and print an index of personal names.
First, design a program so that the user has the option of entering or retrieving names from the index. If the user chooses to enter a name, the program will parse the String (according to the desired name format) and append it to a text file containing a list of names. If the user chooses to retrieve a list of names, they can search by any part of the name and list all matching names from your index alphabetically. The user should have as many chances as they like to add or retrieve names to/from their index, and also the option to switch back-and-forth from each task (in one session) regardless of which task they initially choose. For full credit, your program should also have the capability of associating all (varying) names for one person (i.e. pseudonyms), a type of authority control.
A snapshot of output from this program will look like: [dalbertson@dcos ls590]$ pwd /home/SLIS/dalbertson/ls590/Lab_6 [dalbertson@dcos ls590]$ java name_index Enter “1” to add a name to the index, enter “2” to retrieve names: 1 Enter the person’s last name: Jones Enter the person’s first name and middle initial (optional): Dan E Thank you, you have added “Jones, Dan E” to your name index. Would you like to enter another name (y/n)? yes Enter the person’s last name: Klein Enter the person’s first name and middle initial (optional): Denise Thank you, you have added “Klein, Denise” to your name index. Would you like to enter another name (y/n)? NO Would you like to retrieve names from your index? YES Enter a string of characters in which to search by or enter “all names” for a complete list: Jones Search results include: Jones, Dan E Jones, Lucy M Klein, Charlotte C End! Would you like to retrieve names from your index? YES Enter a string of characters in which to search by or enter “all names” for a complete list: all names Search results include: Jones, Dan E Jones, Lucy M Klein, Charlotte C Dyer, James Shapiro, Kevin Clemens, Denise End! Would you like to retrieve names from your index? N Thank you, come again! [dalbertson@dcos ls590]$
2. Graphical Name Index (Due 4/11)
This Lab requires you to make the functionality of the name index application, which was developed for Lab 6, available through a graphical user-interface, such as a Java Applet. You should design your interface to allow for both data entry (i.e. enable users to add/append names to the index) and retrieval (display). You can create this program as a web-based Applet - but a locally running graphical program is also acceptable (especially considering r/w privileges on the server from a web-based program). Only those programs that implement both data entry and retrieval will be awarded full credit. Remember good coding practices, e.g. appropriate variable names, indentation, comments, and use of methods. Also, there should be no – or minimal - repeating pieces of code or variables (e.g. num1, num2, num3, etc.). Bad code design may cost you points now.
3. Image Histogram (Due 4/25)
Using the code found in Step 3 at http://pbnj.slis.ua.edu/dalbertson/jai_tutorial/ produce a color histogram for an image that you choose. You can use the code exactly as it appears on the webpage or modify it as needed. Write up a short paragraph explaining your general observations, e.g. "the image processing program detected more black colors than all other colors", and any other observations. Zip up your selected image, generated histogram, and paragraph explanation, and email it to me. Please put your name on everything. You can select a test image from anywhere, e.g. the web, a (digital) library, etc.
I'm not sure what people charge for this kind of thing, but being that it's probably hard for me but easy for you, I'm thinking \ a lab, maybe for the final? The coding can't be fancy, as the prof knows my very low level of understanding. It must also be strict Java SE 6.
