Hi There,
Some knowledge of music theory would be extremely useful for the coder on this project...
The project is an iPhone App for all of those creative musicians like myself who have random moments of inspiration and want to quickly get their ideas down whilst they remember them, on-the-go. It also provides people with the ability to develop and work on musical ideas wherever they are. Although this is 'composition software', it is important to understand that it is not intended to create 'finished' musical compositions, but more to notate and explore ideas on-the-go. It will use an on-screen piano keyboard (much like the piano app) as its primary input method, and must notate what is played in, in sheet-music format. The title, meter and tempo settings are all changeable. It is also possible to move the notes around on the stave after input. I think that one would be able to record a maximum of two lines on top of each other, POSSIBLY with the ability to record live sound (vocals etc) through the microphone on top, although this might not be necessary. Recording input would be done to a click-track.
I have seen one similar iPhone App called 'Composer', although this seems to try to be composition software more like Sibelius than just for ideas. The interface I have in mind is very simple, and I would be willing to produce some visuals if necessary, and even do the final interface design if the project goes ahead.
For me this is just an idea that I would go ahead with if at a suitable price, it is not so important to me that I would spend whatever it takes. I have a rough idea of how much work this is from a developer friend of mine, but he doesn't really have experience with iPhone development.
I look forward to seeing bids, and hope that somebody capable and willing has a low enough bid for me to go ahead with this!
