Hi,

I had a programmer working on my site and it worked excellent. The script I use is a metasearch script and picks up searches from yah, google, msn, looksmart, fast, etc. I even had it customized to pick up searches elsewhere. However after about a week the php was not picking up web searches the way it was supposed to again. My site is hosting a metasearch engine script. The programmer states that the script is fine and the problem is a hosting server. He suggested I find a new hosting service which is faster and allows for the fast transmissions of the metasearch. I checked my site statistics on alexa.com and it shows that the site is very slow.

The error message that I got on my site to test the script was:

Warning: mysql_connect(): User mywebsite_search has already more than \'max_user_connections\' active connections in /home/mywebsite/public_html/includes/open_db.php on line 12

So, my question is there a limit to the amount of users that can search on my metasearch script simultaneously? I\'m not a programmer and I need the answer to this in simple terms. Is it a script error? Is it a hosting error? Do I need a dedicated server for this? I don\'t have massive amounts of traffic to my site yet. In fact, according to my webhost bandwidth statistics I\'m only using 1% of my bandwidth.

When I wrote to my hosting company they told me the following about the php error message:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.
Please be informed that there is no issue with the server. The load in
the server is also normal. Please be informed that the maxium mysql
user connection allowed simultaneously in our server is 40. When number of
mysql connections to the database increases greater than this you will
get the above error message. Please note that this is a shared server
and we will not be able to increase this limit as this will increase the
server load and leaves the server unstable.

What does this mean? Does this mean that only 40 people can search on the metasearch script at the same time? This can\'t be right. I still don\'t understand what this means. I think it has to be a script error.

I just need to know if I should get the coding changed and customized some more in my site or start from scratch with a new script. I\'ve already changed hosting sites once before for the same reason.
