Description
The purpose of this project is to track an employees actual work time on the computer.
We are in need of a utility that can track the amount of time that a computer is actually in use. In one column, the utility tracks and records actual hours and minutes of use for each day of use. The dates and times of usage are all logged. When the computer is shut down or goes into standby, the program would pause counting. When the computer is no loner in standby, counting of time resumes. The counting of time would be with 1 minute resolution. In a second column of the report, if there is a single key press event within a minute or a mouse movement within any given minute that minute is counted. The column is updated in real time in the report, whenever a minute of activity has been documented. When a new day has arrived, the counting starts over in new columns with the previous day's activities still in their original columns. A total of 14 columns would be used for the week (2 columns of data for each of the 7 days of the week). A total for the week would be at the bottom of the report. The report would total the hours/minutes used when the computer was not in standby (Column 1) and would totalize hours/minutes of actual keyboard press and mouse movements (column 2).
The program would generate a report on an excel spread sheet stored in a location that I would setup on the program's main interface. Therefore a "Browse" button will need to be on the main interface to specify the location for the excel file. The file name of the xls file would be the beginning and ending dates that are tracked. A new file is created each week, starting Monday morning and ending Sunday night. An example for the file name for this week: 6-6-6-12.xls
The utility would not be visible in the task manager. A combination of key press events would allow me to access the program to start and stop it at my will. A start and stop button would be on the min program interface. The key press combination would be 4 keys pressed simultaneously to show the visibility of the main program interface. The main program interface should have drop down boxes that allow me to assign the key press combination which would be permanently stored in the registry until changed by myself. The options within each drop down box should be A-Z, 1-0, Ctrl, Shift, and Alt options. The main interface should be graphically appealing.
When completed and approved, we will need the source code of the project. Also, we, the buyer, would own all rights to the program itself and all source code. The program should be called "Employee Monitor".
The program must be written in VB6 or VB.Net.
