Description
Seeking talented and highly reliable developers to extend one of our recently developed web solutions. The current system is coded in PHP with a mySQL database backend. The current site is a customized mash-up of two open source systems, Joomla CMS and vtiger CRM.
Current System Functions:
The current system generally manages information and communication for an organization that helps facilitate the matching of doctoral graduate students with appropriate professional internship opportunities.
One aspect of the current system is most relevant as its features are to be mirrored for a new user population. This aspect of the current system manages and makes available information about internships for predoctoral graduate students. Information about the agencies which host predoctoral internship positions may be entered, modified and deleted. Authenticated users may search this online database of internships based on multiple query criteria. Also, the system is capable of sending out emails en masse to each agency member requesting that they use the link included in the email to log into the online interface in order to amend or approve their agency’s information. Once approved by the host organization, agency profile data is then automatically and immediately used to update the database of predoctoral internships (searchable online database).
What We Need to Add:
The system extension on which you would be bidding will create a parallel functionality for postdoctoral students, agencies and their internships with the same capabilities described above currently available for predoctoral groups. That is:
• Information about the agencies with postdoctoral internship positions may be entered, modified and deleted • This online database of postdoctoral internships will be available to authenticated users and searchable on multiple query criteria • The capability to send out emails en masse to each postdoctoral agency member requesting that they use the enclosed link to log into the online interface to amend or approve their agency’s information. The resultant submitted agency profiles are then queued up for the host organization’s approval. Once approved, agency profile data must be automatically and immediately used to update the database of postdoctoral internships (searchable online database.
Code Requirements:
Implemented code must follow commonly accepted best web coding and design practices, that is fully W3C compliant and that, at a minimum, works smoothly on Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 6 & 7, and Safari 3. Once selected, the vendor will be provided with the full code of the current project. Modifications to the current code’s structure or function could be considered if deemed necessary by the selected bidder, with the caveat that current functionality must be fully preserved. Test user status on the current system may also be granted to assist in understanding the functionality to be mirrored.
Bids should be on a total cost basis to complete the work (i.e., not hourly). Minimum of three references for contact from relevantly similar projects required. It is anticipated that a vendor will be chosen within one week of receiving bid proposals. Work must be completed, tested, and implemented by June 5.

Hello Bidders,
I just wanted to clarify and be more concise on our job description and deliverables. Kindly send a revised bid/quote once you read our additional clarifications to the job that is posted as follows:
-creating postdoctoral student database, including registration and user authentication processes -postdoctoral agencies database, including CAPIC administrator interfaces necessary create, update, and delete agency records -semi-automated process by which agencies hosting postdoctoral internships will be able to approve or modify their agency's profile information which will then be approved by CAPIC before this new information is used to update the postdoctoral agencies database
-semi-automated matching process to match predoctoral applicants with predoctoral internship positions (using processes, timelines, and logic)
Thanks -- looking forward to hearing from you. TechAustin
