Description
Hello,
We require a contractor to create an application to listen on SOCKET for connections from devices that will be sending binary data over that socket. The application needs to decode these from binary format to numbers and characters according to the specification and save them to MS SQL 2008 Database
The solution needs to be able to handle 2500 devices connecting at the same time and each device sending a message every 2 minutes.
You would have to create the MS SQL 2008 DB yourself according to the fields that are listed in the device communication specification.
The SOCKET listener needs to run on port 10001 - this needs to be changeable. It needs to be programmed in technology that will be stable and suitable to the workload mentioned above. We can accept .NET however you would also need to create a load test application that will proove it is working.
We know some of our competitors have such components programmed in C and they run under linux.
We will provide you with 2 Servers that you will have remote access to (www.logmein.com) both with windows 2003 server installed one with MS SQL Server 2008 installed (we can put development tools to either of them (VS 2005, VS 2008) or you can install whatever tools you need) If you want to do the linux + C version you will need to install the OS and anything else required (we can provide you with connection to the server using lightsout card... remote install of servers)
We will setup the port 10001 to forward onto one of the servers and they will be on the internet connected to a static IP address.
The solution is to collect messages from a vehicle tracking box. Anyone with previous experience within the telematics industry - solutions to read socket messages would be preffered candidate.
