Description
Introduction: So, this project can either been made in Excel and VBA or C/C++ with DEvc/c++ IDE. in C/C++ can be done quickly if you are used to matrix calculations.
In Excel 2003, vba also. Moreover I provide the link for following up the numerical recipe !
1- You get a txt or dat file with 2 columns of numbers ( X{left side} and Y{right side}) as it is shown below.
2)Project ( beginner level):
there must be a browser to search for this file
select the lines ( selection with mouse or upon your skills)
show on a chart the data with auto scaling
apply the polynomial fitting of order 1 to 12 with classical method that you can find for example at : http://mathworld.wolfram.com/LeastSquaresFittingPolynomial.html
record the coefficients, coefficient of determination, value of sum of least squares
ask to record with a file name: original data, fitting data, polynomial coefficients and determination value
ask if there is a new fitting to perform and add to the file
if yes, re-proceed for the order ask to the user
if no, save and close file
