Description
Color Dynamic software. Color dynamic is a proposed software tool that provides 'personality analysis' based on a color picking routine, the sequence of colors picked by the user are analysed and relevant database entries displayed based on the result.
The eventual software must be in two formats for on-line and off-line use. The on-line application is to be based on Visual basic .NET*. The off-line Version is to be Visual basic.
Both on-line and off-line versions will perform exactly the same function. There are however some small cosmetic and practical differences which will be discussed later. The sequence of events in the application is:
1.A splash screen with the Color Dynamic logo is displayed 2.User initiates the program sequence 3. The user is presented with instructions - to pick the color the user wishes 4. 8 colors are displayed - each has a value that is stored in the sequence picked 5. An interlude of 30 seconds 6. A second array of 8 colors is displayed, again sequence of values picked is stored* 7. The value of each color picked and their sequence are analysed, pairings of colors picked and their position in the stored array are also included in analysis. 8. Based on the result, database entries relevant to the numeric values derived from the analysis** are displayed. 9. User has option to save analysis to text file or print. 10. Exit / reinitiate
All graphics, design layouts and machine readable database entries are available from client for inclusion in the software and development.
*The color test analysis works by contrasting two different sets of color choices. Therefore should the user input the same sequence of colors twice for inclusion in the array the second set should be voided. In this case a message should be displayed telling the user the duplicate values are not valid and step 5 is repeated once the user acknowledges the message.
**The analysis requires development of an algorithm to derive results based on two sets of contrasted numeric and symbolic values. Each color in each array has an individual numeric (0 to 7) and a Symbolic value 1,2 = '+', 3,4 = 'X' 5,0 = '=', and 6,7 = '-'. Comprehensive material for the method of analysis will be provided. To Automate this exercise the Color Dynamic software will roughly do the following
1.Present instruction to user 2.Display colors 3.record user choice – store array 4.Wait 30 seconds 5.Repeat steps steps 2 and 3 6.Calculate results of stored values 7.Query database 8.Display results The colors, and their Numeric value are as follows.
Red . 0 Blue . 1 Violet . 2 Yellow . 3 Green . 4 Brown . 5 Grey . 6 Black . 7
As can be seen the numeric values range from 0 to 7. The symbolic values attached to each numeric value are decided by the integers place in the array. The symbols are – (Minus), + (plus), =(equal), X (x).
example. If a color choice is made resulting in the array 7,1,6,0,2,4,3,5
the the Symbolic values are attached to the arrays integers
first pair = (+) Second = (X) Third = (=) Forth = (-)
Thus giving the existing the array the value: 7, 1 , 6 , 0 , 2 , 4 , 3 , 5 +, + , x , x , = , = , - , - Example of how to how to interpret a color selection:
Two sets of numeric values corresponding to colors chosen by the user are examined. Color Set #1- 7, 1 , 6 , 0 , 2 , 4 , 3 , 5 Color Set #2- 1, 4, 5, 2, 3, 6, 0, 7
The rows are separated into number pairs and assigned symbolic values based on their position withing the array. Thus: Color set #1 +7 +1 X6 X0 =2 =4 -3 -5 Color set #2 +1 +4 X5 X2 =3 =6 -0 -7
This creates 4 groups in each array. Comparison between the two arrays of numbers is carried out to adjust the groups and create a final single array of values that can be used as a reference to access corresponding database entries.
The data base contains approx. 1028 entries as pair analysis leads to duplication hence reducing the database size. Each entry contains an analysis links to the Numeric/Symbolic values created from the test. For example the entry for +1 -7 is: “+1 -7 Does not wish to be involved in differences of opinion, contention or argument, preferring to be left in peace.”*
*please note this is a sample entry from the original Luscher test material which will not be used. An alternate source will be provided by the client. The database is currently in machine readable format. However it needs so be imported into a application like MS access to create database fields. Further source material is available for more detailed analysis of the Luscher method.
Differences between the on-line and off-line versions.
The off-line version differs from the on-line version by having two functions not related directly to color analysis. The off-line version will be available for download and will have a URL link button that will allow the software user to link to the owners own website. Another function is that the off-line version will have space for a banner to accommodate who ever is helping distribute the free application. Please allow for flexibility to accommodate this function in your eventual software design.
Pricing: The budget for this project is $850
Product: The party putting this project out to tender will retain copyright of the resultant application, database, source code and imagery.
Resources: The Color Dynamic Test uses two tools. The first is the color cards. There are 8 in total. The second is the Database. This database holds approximately 1028 individual entries. Each color card represents a numeric (integer) value. This numeric value has attached to it a symbolic* value depending on its place in the array. All database material, reference material and graphics for use in the project will be provided by the client. Please refer to the Color Test work of Dr. Max Luscher for an understanding of the methods of analysis for use in this application. Further source material will be made available to the eventual successful bidder.
Completion: The project is deemed completed when demonstrated to be working and the client is in receipt of the projects source code and modules.
Requirements: Candidate developers should have a strong VB and mathematical skills.
